The Wonder Years

Daylen Daniels and Chase McCoy are as different as night and day. Chase is the beautiful golden boy. Gorgeous, popular, and the quarterback of the football team. Daylen is the quiet introvert. Lovely curves, shy, and sees herself as an orchestra geek. After Day moves next door to Chase, a run-in with a bully, a domestic dispute, and one treehouse hideout, an impenetrable bond is made.

As they grow up, their attraction for each other grows with them, but is it strong enough to risk their friendship? A party, a little game of spin the bottle, and a devious enemy could shake the very foundation of their friendship. Or it could start a tumultuous romance that spans decades.

Take a journey with these two best friends through first love, heartbreak and tragedy from childhood to adulthood as the two find that young love isn't as strong as they'd hoped. A story of true growing pains in…Chasing Day.

What I mean by that is, if you write a great story you don't need to resort to splitting it just to get more sales.
This is a story about bad timing and choices. Daylen and Chase meet as kids. They become fast, best friends. Eventually they become more but through a series of poor decisions made by both they don't manage to truly connect for a couple of decades.
The characters are well defined, the situations vary from simplistic to complex. Our hero, Chase doesn't quite mature while he learns his life lessons. Daylen matures but makes a mistake common among women who didn't have their Dad growing up. She goes from relationship to relationship because she's doesn't want to be alone. Both characters have a lot of growing up to do, even up until the end when one resorts to a childish maneuver to effect the resolution of their final conflict.
It is a true heart story. (A narrative that isn't steeped in the fairytales many romance novels are written.) It has what way too many books lack, time. I'm getting tired of reading books where the lovers meet, kiss, have sex and decide they want to be together forever within a week. This book also works with the obstacles couples create for themselves. No need for external forces to break them up. They do it well all on their own.
Now, the problem with the story is this....you must buy the second book to reach the end. This book doesn't have a cliffhanger, it just stops. It's lucky for the author I didn't know that because I would not have read it.
Here's the thing, if you write well enough you can sell an entire book at a reasonable price. I read these two through kindle-unlimited and I'm just fed up enough I won't purchase them because of the silly cat and mouse game that came with me getting to the end of the story.
Twyla, trust your writing, it's damned good enough to sell books.
It's a great story that requires you buy Catching Day to reach the conclusion. The choice is yours.

Chasing Day edition by Twyla Turner Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews

OMG!!! This is a great book. I love books about friends who eventually find each other. I finished this book in one day , I couldn't put it down. I was. So devastated that there was a cliffhanger. Chase and Day go through so much and it's so believable. All I can say please read the book. Ms. Turner never disappoints.
This is an example of a tumultuous relationship. Chase and Day have been each other protector all through their childhood until they realized it was more to their being together. Their relationship endured cheating, long distance and death; however, it continues to be strained. Now I will not leave any spoilers because I want you to read it for yourself.
I just don't like books that end leaving you hanging. This one does, but it's still a great read. If all books left you hanging we'd all go broke trying to buy the next book. I don't mind sequels, as they are usual stand alone enough to enjoy each book in itself. I enjoyed this book but don't know about the next one as I didn't buy it.
I loved the characters and the storyline. My complaint is I hate cliffhangers, especially when the next book is less than two hundred pages. I feel like it's just a way to gouge the reader.
The premise is there, I enjoyed a lot of the book, but it didn't WOW me and I needed that.
The relationship was evolving, I believed that, but their first time didn't feel organic (though mom being in the same house wasn't a deterrent). It got very intense soon thereafter, but then distance has a way of building walls.
I wish this could have gone through another edit to finesse thoughts and actions.
I could not put this book down it took you on an emotional roller coaster. There were so many times that I was yelling at the book please get it together. The thing that they did to each other my God and their timing was horrible but I loved every minute of it.
CLIFHANGER!!!!!!

I normally refuse to read the follow up of a free book that ends on a cliffhanger, but this book caught me hook, line and sinker.
I was like an addict without their preferred drug, I bought the next book even before finishing this one even though it was a bit pricey. Hey, I'm in SA the dollar/Rand exhange rate is killing me.
What a story, beautiful, heartwarming, emotional and definitely worth the read.
